I bought a new compressor about a year ago. Everything has been good with it and I have been very pleased, but a few days ago I was using it and the motor went from it's usual whine to sounding like it was straining. It's a Campbell Hausfeld FP2040. Is the compressor dying? something loose? being taken over by an invasion of gremlins? If it is dying, is this common for this company? I've heard good things about thier products, and have been pleased with this compressor, but don't want to have to buy a new one every year.

That's what I thought, but it doesn't have one according to the blow-up view of the compressor. The only thing I found on one of the Troubleshooting chart as a possibility was the motor winding had become loose. Other than that, there are a few valves that could be shot, but in that case, it almost becomes less expensive to buy a new compressor, especially as it's a shot in the dark for what appears to be a pricy part
