I'm trying to find some good detail brushes to use with enamel paints. I've heard Winsor and Newton Series 7 several times, but those are watercolor and I'm not sure how they would react to enamel long term. At $20 a pop it's kind of important to know if they will last long term, ya know? What brands do you guys normally use?

Winsor and Newton Series 7 they handle enamel fine,I have my series 7 which I use with oils and enamel and I clean with lacquer thinner for years and if you care about them they are a long-lasting brushes, it may seem strange but the acrylic paint ruins the brushes faster than enamel or oils, in fact I almost never use my best brushes with acrylics (often for acrylics they recommend synthetic brushes) and if I do, I clean them immediately and thoroughly, I'm a bit OCD and I always deep clean them all the time even with the special soap/conditioner/restorer and I have my brushes that at 8 years old they are still like new, don't leave the brushes in the lacquer thinner too long because it can melt the glue that holds the ferrule but if you use it only to give it a clean at the end you have no problem being very volatile.

this is the soap..

i have also the rosemary & Co brushes, great quality comparable to series 7 but cheaper, super custom service and they have brushes for every job,I have the series 33 which are more and less like the normal series 7 (be careful because of the series 7 there is the normal version and the short-haired Miniature version), the 66 series are cats tongue, and the series 56 short flat.

I had seen Rosemary and Co recommended through a couple places via google so I had been looking at them, too. I decided to go ahead and get the two sets you recommended as they decreased the price a little further. I had also seen recommendations to use soap but I was afraid it wouldn't work for enamels, so I was surprised the masters said it worked for oil based. I went ahead and got some of it, too. Thanks for the advice.

No worries mate always happy to help!...the soap is great check the YouTube videos they restore also old brushes and is very good also at the end to keep the point in good shape, use your normal procedure for cleaning and then when you think it’s clean use the soap and you see how much colour is still there.

I never brought the sets because I already have some of that brushes but the price and the content looks pretty good, some say the series 7 are little bit better then the Rosemary ,I found them pretty much the same but is very personal, probably the series 7 have just little bit more belly, but the customer service of Rosemary is top notch like Badger with the AB
