Hi. I'm contemplating building a 1/72nd scale MF and would like some help on selection. I don't want an ultra expensive kit but something that is quality at a good price. Cheers all.

I'm all but paint done with a Fine Molds Falcon (also released as Revell) . It's pricy but cheaper than the Bandai kit.


It's the 5 landing gear EBS version if that matters. I think the Bandai builds as a 3 landing gear version.

Bandai is the best but they do a version without the lighting kit and its remarkably cheaper. IMHO the lighting kit Bandai supply isnt that much to shout about. I've got both and both are nice kits but the finemolds is lacking detail in places like the gun pits, the bandai landing gear wouldnt fit in the openings they give (scale wise)but its a newer kit and subsequently the general detail excels.

Keith is right, the cockpit and gun tubs are pretty underdetailed on the FM version. That said, there is not much to SEE inside the gunpits. I was going to greeblie them up, but after fitting all the bits, decided against it.
The cockpit is a little sparse and the decal backwall is only black and white. But fill it with the figures provided and it's hardly noticeable.


yeah.. it's a Star Wars (not Ep IV, just Star Wars.. and Han Shot FIRST!) cockpit crew on ESB gear... shhhhh... don't tell the judges...
