Hello, I just thought I'd weasel myself back into forum life politely before launching a barrage of 'How do I... ?' -type questions!
I'm a returning 54 year-old 1/35 military modeller, having been in the wilderness for a dozen or more years now; I got lured back into music again after moving to a house large enough to actually set my music gear up again!
Now that I have lots of free time thanks to redundancy from work I have recently - at my girlfriend's suggestion - re-entered the world of plastic. So I dug into my ancient stash of unmade and semi-built kits and after a few weeks of struggling to remember just how to do this thing without swearing at the parts that ping off the sprue into who-knows-where and wondering exactly what I was thinking when I bought those P.E. detail sets I think I'm starting to gradually get the feel of it, after a rather disappointing, mostly OOB build of Bronco's Comet - although it was good to have to tackle and rectify a badly fitting resin mantlet cover!
I'm mostly interested in British WW2 subjects and am gob-smacked by the choice of kits now available! I can see this is goin got get expensive

Hi MC (looks like you’re not far from my birthplace? - Whitley Bay), maybe a good idea to limber up with one of your most ancient kits but it’ll probably turn out to be like riding a bike & it’ll all come back to you. I have no advice other than remember the Carpet Monster lives on, and what better track for you right now than this…

Hi Tim and thanks
I am indeed just down the coast from Whitley in Sunny Shields!
Yes the bike riding analogy is right enough as I've been making all the modelling equivalents of riding into lampposts, skinning my shins and going through puddles with hidden pot-holes!
Fortunately our carpet monster is now a much friendlier pale grey which has been very useful for the Comet and current Tamiya Cromwell builds but lets see how it handles something by Dragon!
Top tune btw! Next time I'm fulminating over a minute bit of p.e. I shall remember this: 'Frankie Says Relax'
