I am in the thinking and gathering stage for a Kelly's Heroes diorama involving Oddball's Sherman. Anyone have suggestions for what to use to make the loudspeaker he had on the side of his Sherman?

I am contemplating the same for a club contest. I was planning on using lead or aluminum foil to make the horn of the loudspeaker and raiding the parts box for the base.

Hi keith, I was in a hobby lobby the other day and was walking through the doll house section( lots of interesting stuff for the scratch builder). They have a minature Gramaphone that you might be able to adapt. Just a passing crazy idea but sometimes they actually work :-)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll pay a visit to my local Hobby Lobby this afternoon after work.

I've spent 11 years on a Kelly's Heroes Diorama. Actually its a "tri-orama" as its three scenes on a turntable. One scene is "Oddball" coming through the railroad tunnel with his Sherman and the speakers. I took thin styrene and warmed it in my hands as I shaped it. It worked.

Yeah, I know I'm crazy. One tree took me over 100 hours!

Keith,

Go visit your doctor! They have disposable covers for the Otoscope, to look in your ear. They come in several sizes and you could cut the tip off and use it for the outside part of the speaker, insert a rod thru the center and you have a loudspeaker. I am sure if you ask they will give you some.

If not drop me a line and I'll find some here at the hospital.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. However, check the date on my original post: April 2004! I have pictures of my Kelly's Heroes diorama in my gallery.

Isn't it interesting how "the oldies" posts have recently started to pop back up? Just a thought....induced, probably, by my desire for a really good "cold one" and a BBQ. Oh! Wait....got one and will have one! Mmmmmmm................
