So there I was, Fokkers at my back, flaming-eyed squirrels on my flanks, and a freshly opened moving box full of models I hadn't seen since Nov. 2007. On top of the kits was this Monogram 1973 Catalogue. I also found a Tamiya catalogue from the mid- or late 1970s. (I may post it eventually.)

Once I had 2-3 each Monogram, Revell, and Tamiya catalogues; I probably threw them out c.1990 but for some reason I kept at least these two.

Ahhh, the good ol' days! Enjoy!

Fred, thanks for posting this trip down memory lane. Is it sad to say I still have several Monogram kits that even pre-date this catalog? My Jeep and 37mm gun are still in the 1959 box, but I have the Bugatti, Deusenberg, Gulfhawk, and F3F listings in this “white box” catalog. If I’m not mistaken (I might be), ‘73 was the first year Monogram went to the white boxes. Previously, they were blue boxes, and artwork boxes before that. Some of these kits (F3F series and many of the classic cars, the Swift Boat and a few others have never been released by any other manufacturer in plastic). It would be great to see some “modern renditions” of these—guess in the meantime we’ll have to settle for these “old geezers”— but the classic car kits are still pretty good even for their time. What about their 1/72 scale biplanes? they were (and still are) excellent little kits for their time— I wish I still had those.

Like Russ said, thanks for the memories! As I looked at the pics I remembered building (and breaking) so many of those kits. The classic cars and funnycars were always a treat.
