Perhaps a silly question but did wwii afv's have interior lighting ?

Yes. At least some of them. I can't remember if Germany had the red or green lights. I believe green. The US had red interior lighting. Not sure which vehicles had them. Neither am I sure if other countries had interior lights.

Pretty much anything that gets buttoned down in combat needs interior lighting. US stuff certainly had all manner of interior globe lights in each compartment, as did British. I assume the same for German tanks, but never thought to check.
