Antennas, made of mylar?

A few years ago I got some mylar antannas. They were great, but I forgot where I got them. Any one know where to get them?

I make my antennas from carbon fiber, which is better than mylar. I get it fromDragonplate.com, where you can get it in an endless variety of thicknesses in 3 foot lengths pretty cheap. Guaranteed not to snap!

Matthew, I've never even considered or thought about using carbon fiber as antennas. I'm extremely interested in trying this, so my question is, what size carbon fiber you use for this application? Thank you.

I use them all the time. Midwest makes them-- get the smallest diameter rod they make. I have also used nylon rod, which you can find in shops specializing in fiberglass casting (if you can find any around).

For 1/35 I use .010 and .030. And yes John, it's super flexible, you can bend it over on itself and it won't fold or snap.

I'm not finding the .010" rod on the site anywhere..... I wonder if they dropped it since you last ordered it?

Me neither. The smallest I could find was .020. Also you have to order it by the foot.

Midwest carries carbon fiber rod in .040. I wouldn't worry too much about the sizing, as Carbon fiber can be sanded (and thus tapered) to suit. It comes in 2'x24" lengths, two to a package, for under $6. I've also used steel wire from K&S.
