Just got Academy's OV-10A and I was wondering if you guys have pics of the real thing inside and out. Did we modify the base design? What's the camo scheme? What are the correct Tamiya colors to use? How much are the decals? Did I get the correct kit?

Thanks a lot guys! This will be my first PAF plane

Naunahan mo ko ha. Hehehe. I'll be building the same kit too. This thread could be very helpful to me too.

Great link! Looks like the NATO Green, NATO Brown and NATO Black can be used. Next stop: decals.

The format changes every month, doesnt it?
Hey Jeep, I saw the PAF OV-10 up close and personal. You got the right kit, man. And we got lots of photos of the real thing. In and out. I'll lend you my own photo collection as soon as Bender returns my album.
The current PAF OV-10As has a scheme consisting of bright green, brown and, of all things, gray. And it has a duck egg blue undersides. Phew! Anyways, we got photos of that too.
The PAF received the first 4 of 10 (I think) similar OV-10Cs from Thailand. It has a different scheme and Bigman has got the goodies on that.
Hope this helps!
Oh and by the way...
Great meeting you in the flesh, CBrain! Welcome aboard, IPMS-P-BAC!

I dont have my own scanner, but we do have one at the office. It may take some time for me to make singit but as soon as I do I'll send you soft copies of the photos.

I like the new format too. May bagong smileys pa hehe
Haven't touched my Bronco yet. Still waiting for ref pics. Can't go to the next meeting so si Shonen na lang talaga pag-asa ko hehe

May OV-10D ba tayo? May naalala akong pic dati sa Inquirer. Bronco pero haba ng ilong.
One question: are all flying surfaces (flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudder, etc) up when the Bronco is parked? No drooping anything whatsoever?

Aba ako pang ginawang pag-asa! :-) :-) :-) Di rin ako sure kung makakapunta ako. Kailan ba ang next meet? Wala pa nga akong kit in hand. Dami kasing nakatambak dito. Hahahaha.

Jeep,
From what we saw and based on photos the OV-10s had their control surfaces in the up position when parked. There were a few, however, that had their wing trailing edges or flaps in the down or up (really) position.
We dont have the D Broncos. All we have are the moment are the surviving As and Cs.
Shonen,
Just tell me if youre coming to the meet. Next meet is this coming Sunday (but Im not sure I can make it). After that, it will be the fourth Sunday of May (unless the guys set a meet on the second Sunday). I still owe you an access panel demo.

Thanks buck! This means I can start building the wings hehe. Good thing the wheel wells on the real thing are relatively bare. Our wing hardpoints are faired over right? They are supposed to hold a Sidewinder on each wing but I don't think we use them. What's the usual combat load? Three bombs or a tank and two bombs? Dami ba tanong? heheh

Have to make each kit last a loooong time SR. Kit purchases are on hold for the next few months

Yo Braille Gods! Any ideas on how to detail the main gear legs? The Academy legs are very plain when the real thing is a complicated multi-jointed affair. However I''m afraid to cut it apart because it does not look that strong in the first place.
Tnx!

As Buck mentioned, we don't have the D-version which is the most capable Bronco variant and used by the USMC in ODS.
Last I heard, there is only ONE D-Bronco left and was due to be scrapped a year or two ago. The OV-10 Bronco association (
www.OV-10Bronco.net) was petitioning to save and restore that plane. Dunno if they were successful (I haven't checked the before-mentioned site for epochs). BTW, they have a Philippine chapter as well.
Jeep: don't worry about the landing gear. If you need a replacement, my D is up for grabs. :-)

Hey Klinger! R2's Bronco pics are already posted on the ipmsphilippines website. Aside from that, we have a someone called "Hans" in the ipmsphilippines forum who says that his dad used to be a Bronco driver. He has already posted a lot of reference and he really knows the Bronco inside and out. Any pics of your Broncos?

I have a Bronco lying around for 8 months now. It's a Revell kit and modelled after the ones used by the West Germans in the early 80's. I'm wondering just what are the types of bombs or payload carried by our Bronco's. For sure they are not those laser guided bombs. I'm sure they are those line-of-sight bombs where you have to guide it till you see the whites of your enemy's eyes! But what are the names?
I'm not in to A/C modelling that much so my questions might be too ignorant. But I can recognize what civilian plane I ride just by the type of seat and the number of seats across and the type of inflight service. That is a travellers learned skills after loggin on that much passenger flight time. Now that has to count for something.

As far as I know our Broncos only carry the centerline tank and some iron bombs. I don't think they ever carried a Sidewinder.
BTW:
one aisle, 3 seats per side = 737
2-4-2 = Airbus A300
3-6(?)-3 = 747
Halata na atang pang-economy class lang ako hehe

That's the Revell 1/72 Phantom with the black and red markings? I've been eyeing that kit for a long time already. It's said to be the best Phantom in Braille scale.
Ok back to topic
"Hans" on the IPMS-P-BAC forum has been sharing lots of valuable information about his dad's OV-10A. He knows his Broncos even down to the little differences between the old A and the new C from Thailand. I'll also be posting some pics of what little progress I've had over the summer.
