Which of the two shots gives a more feel of a WWII pic? I'm still trying to get the best on this cam.

Original one

Sorry, never bothered to add a background and use indirect light. Di naman yun yung importante eh for these set of pics. I just want to know which suits best for a WWII motif..

Gee... I just love my cam. Crisp details. Yeeeba!!!

Is this a new camera? What model.

I'm not one for knowing which ones give you "the feeling" of looking at a WWII picture, but I'd go for the sepia filtered one, as usually these are the ones used for documentaries, series', etc. Look at Fritz' work with his Famo. That was nice.

What mode did you use your camera on, as the whole image didn't seem to handle "macro-mode" that well. Look at the propeller part of the plane, there's "noise" there -- so maybe adjusting either your distance from the model or some settings on your camera would do the job.

Plus, IMO, any camera can bring out any detail, the "shooter" has to be pretty nifty to get "them" out there. Do some more macro shots, now those will really test if the camera or camera-man can bring out CRISP details.

I'd go for the 3rd version. Looks more "authentic" or "classic" looking.

black and white is classic looking, but for me, the sepia tone (2nd pic) makes it more authentic... paper turns brownish when exposed to air for a long time...

jomz, I got myself the Powershot G2 (yeah, I know it's a discontinued model). Minadali ko lang naman yung picture kagabi, kaya nga di gano maganda yung shot. If you look on my SBD in progress (interior shots), I've used macro mode on that. Konting practice pa kailangan. I need some practice on freezing my arms for a shot. (I know I got a tripod but you can't use tripod in all situations)

Thanks for the help!

Use magnifying glass (in front of lense) if camera does not support micromode or subjects needs to be zoomed further . Just take note of the lighting and reflection of the magnifying glass and lense....just a tip I found in one photography book...

The pic below was captured/zoomed using magnifying glass...it was a bit blurry because of the lighting....

hope this helps

Rainbox Six sniper tip (from the book not the game) : Breathe in, hold breath, shoot, breathe out.

Good choice, the Powershot line -- plus it's a Canon, will provide you with a lot of options/fun things to do to your cam. Essentially the Powershot line are point-and-shoot cameras.

Good Luck!

LIGHTING will always be key.

Thanks for the tip guys! Still, practice makes perfect. I may get myself the Canon 250D Macro Lens for this baby in the future.

I'm playing around with photoshop. Here's what I've found

I've added noise on this sepia pic

On this one, I added some distortion

So which is a better effect? Distort or noise?

Shonen: I like the second similar to those in history books/mags, maybe you can also try BW combined with noise and distortion....

Shonen: Yup...hmmm... comparing the old BW to the new one...the old BW looks better looks like taken by a professional war correspondent in WW-II. I'll try to do what you did with my panther and also find the best combination....thanks also for the idea...
