Is there any good place in Canada where you can buy good Plaster/Casting Powder?. I live in Edmonton, maybe some locals know a good store or maybe just a Micheals?? I have not checked the Art Suppliers yet, just Rona and Home Depot. I bought myself some molds from dioramadebris. They do tell you not to use "cheap" Plaster of Paris, but that was the only thing i could find in Edmonton. Now i have the problem that the Plaster of Paris wont take color very good. No matter how much Color i put in the mix... it will just turn out grey!

I was already at that place. But they only sell 30 pound bags and that`s a bit to much.

I don't know if they sell "Durhams Water Putty" in Canada, but I find it works great for all kinds of plaster projects. Its slightly yellow, and dries almost to the consistency of a resin when finished. It can be carved and sanded too. I've used it as a "casting plaster" by just mixing it with more water to thin it out. It comes in a quart sized cardboard can.

Look for 'Hydrocal', Hobby Wholesale sells the lightweight hydrocal, might work.

Durham’s can be purchased in smaller quantities and is less expensive than hydrocal. But Hydrocal-like products can be purchased from Michaels or Hobby Lobby (under the”Woodland Scenics” brand name) in the lower 48. However, Durham’s seems to be a harder, more dense form of plaster— I think it has similar qualities to a resin when it’s fully cured. I mix it a little thinner when pouring it into a latex mold.

I did went to Hobbywholesale and bought the Hydrocal. I did a test coloring on a Diorama base and it looks like it does take color.
