OK, basically....working with a 1/20th A/C cockpit. I want to order instrument faces. No 1'20th available, but, RC company has them in 1/12th thru 1/3rd. Now, have I lost it or is 1/20th about the same as 1/5 scale??? Consideed 1/24th, little smaller but, if I can get the scale closer, hooray for me! Let me know if I have totally lost it or not ......thanks!!

There is a huge discrepancy, between 1:20 and 1:5. Hopefully, others have knowledge of where you can locate 1:20 decals.

you can write 1:20 1/20 1:20th etc..., but it's still the same thing...1/24 is the closest to 1/20

Minor addition to the other replies:
One case which is somewhat confusing is the "quarter scale"
which sometimes is not the same as 1/4, 1:4 or any other way of writing 0.25.
Some of the usages of quarter scale gets its name from the conversion rule: One foot on the original equals one quarter of an inch on the model.
This results in 1:48, but it should be written 1/4"-scale to really correct but the lingo in smaller groups tends to loose "unnecessary" letters.
1/6"-scale is the same as 1:72,
1/8" means 1/96,
1/2"gets you 1:24th and
1"-scale is 1:12th

If I may, what kit is this? I've never heard of 1:20 scale kits.

And that bastard child of the German language: English.
Ah yes, 1/20 one of the metric scales the Asians toyed with once upon a time. Tamiya even did a handful of armor in that scale. Then there's 1/30, 1/25 versus 1/24, 1/50, 1/100 and so on.
And to further confuse scale matters in addition to English versus metric: model railroad and figure scales.
Is 54mm 1/30 or 1/32? Um, yes.

Thanks to all with this problem! I knew I was in trouble when I found decals in the RC aircraft range. Now, with hopes dashed will see what I can come up with in the 1/24...1/25 realm. I even considered maybe getting one of the sheets and see about have it printed out at proper scale. The 1/20th that was asked about is a Nichimo 1/20th Hughes MD 500 chopper. Had the kit for about 12+ years, garage sale find. Someone had stated the engine, but a fair job and all the parts appeared to be there. Will do it as prepped out as possible...NO electric whirly stuff, just detailed. Custom civvy paint job, leather and good carpeting.

Try the 1/18 scale aircraft realm.
This blog shows you how an instrument cluster was scratch built in 1/18th:

hope this helps...

in teory is 1/32 but...but...most take the measure from the eyes but not all and with the figurines anyway can change a lot from sculptor to sculptor

And to add to the confusion there are now companies doing 1/30 And 60mm figures. The 60mm figures are 54mm where the 54mm is from eye level as opposed to top of the head. The 1/30 versus 1/32 is similar. It's not different so much as explaining how the scale is formulated as opposed to guess your best about the intentions of the sculptor.
And my head hurts thinking about it all.
