The 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry is operating in the northern part of Iraq, with most of its activities centered around the city of Tikrit. Tikrit is the birthplace and ancestral home of Saddam Hussein. This area has been the one place in Iraq where resistance has continued, and the Regulars of 1st Battalion are systematically eliminating it.
