I have been building 1/35 armor and have grown kinda bored with the subject. Lately I have been playing a submarine game called Cold Waters and enjoy playing it. This has led me to want to build 1/350 submarines. Sooooooo The qestion is are hobbyboss kits any good because my personal expirence with them in 1/35 is not pleasant. Also is Riich line of kits any good. I have ordered 2 hobbyboss kits and if no review has been done I will do one on them. Thanks in advance.

I've built a few of the HB subs in 1/350. They are nice kits- simple and fast to build. The only real area to be cautious with is where the hull halves join. If they are not lined up right then it just doesn't look right in that it creates a step or a gap where it should be smooth. Same kind of thing to watch out for if you were building an aircraft model where the fuselage halves are joined together.

Their modern subs and the u boats are quite nice. As mentioned
above, take care when assembling the hull halves on their modern
subs.

Their Type VIIa uboat has of errors. If building this kit, you will have to modify
the rudder system from a double rudder to a single rudder and reconfigure the air vents
because HB got it wrong.

From the photos I have seen of the Riich Gatos, their kits are very nice.

Thanks for the responses. Could anybody direct me to any websites that would show me some clear images or something I can try to accurately paint the submarine subjects that I am building.

Ronnie,
If you Google...."HobbyBoss submarines" and select images, many
photos of other modelers' builds will come up....have a look
and use them for inspiration.

Cheers,
