guys how long would it last if lets say a model was bit well.....we cannot rule out the effectsof the air on our model kits since it contains humidity and other pollutants it will definitely affect the model. also our frequent touching of our models would also contribute to its deterioration

we have to accept nothing last forever #:-)

ireckon maybe 10 years b4 we can see some effects?

Hmm...after 10 years or so, the decals applied on my model kits begin to yellow and crack. Lighter shades of gray - like the underside of aircraft - and white colors begin to turn yellow...

These were kits I built way back when I wasn't concerned about things like clearcoats.

Oh, another thing. Accumulated dust and grime settling on the model's surface does give a real "weathered" effect...then there's the "battledamage" while trying to clean them up(snapped off aerials, antennas, side mirrors, pioneering tools, etc)...

I have a model na kasingtanda ko na or more yung nirelease sya. It is a Gundam model way dated back 1986-84. Ok pa ang plastic, alagang alaga ko. Yung sticker-type decals nya well stick pa rin. I made this kit snap on without any coatings and I should say na oks pa rin sya, just like a year ago. White parts stay white, clear parts stay clear.

Imagine if the environmentalists had their way and all countries pledge to phase-out all non-biodegradeable plastics, replacing them with corn-based biodegradeable plastics... our next generation would be building models with steel or stone.

With regard to shelf life, it depends really. If there's a cat, dog, toddler, mother, or someone who just doesn't care about the hobby, then shelf life is measured by months if not days. #:-)
