This may sound crazy but suppose you wanted to add a pe set to youre built model. Is there any way to unbuild the kit without destroying it . Any tips, advice or remarks are welcome .

I guess the first step would have to be removing the paint. For that, I find that spray oven cleaner is the best. Just spray the painted model with it and let it sit on the sink for a while. All it takes is a bit of scrubbing to lift the paint. It helps if you remove some of the smaller parts first, so that you don't bang them off and either damage or loose them.

Hope this helps,

Ray

I have "unbuilt" kits in the past by soaking them in Javex bleach. It will remove the paint and weaken the glue joints with conventianal glue. However, beware of the fact any metal peices will suffer damage through this method by the naturaly corrosive javex. It takes a few days of total imersion to realy do the trick. But as I have said, I have had success with it and continue to use it to "revamp" built kits without any damage to the plastic.

Cheers!

I've heard that putting the model in the fridge will make the glue fragile enough to take the kit apart

soaking it in either bleach or oven cleaner will do the trick, just make sure you collect all the small parts, however this method will destroy the decals.

i also found that a product called 'easy lift off' (mainly used to remove paint and decals), will also un-glue parts as well. you can find it in most hobby shops.
