So, I've added a moisture trap to my setup, but now I barely get any air coming out of the AB and I cannot control the PSI on my regulator. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

John,
That is an arrow on the blue label, you have got it mounted in reverse.

To me it looks like an arrow with air bubbles and the arrow indicates the direction of the air flow...it should flow
towards the hose and not towards the compressor.

Cheers,
Joe

Doh!

Good call. So, I switched it around but still little to no air and I still can't control the regulator. At this point I have no idea what's going on.

John,

Can you fire up the compressor....fill the tank and give me
the readings on the dials?....with the airbrush connected.

Yea, it went up to 40PSI and I could barely feel any air come out the AB.

I dropped the AB a good month ago and I was able to use it but since then it's gotten worse, now to the point where Vallejo Model air paint won't come out and I've thinned it too.

I know I need a moisture trap to help with water not coming but I'm wondering if the nozzle cap or needle is borked from when I dropped the AB and it's finally gone tits up

Can you give me the reading on both dials?

You say 40 psi...but is that the tank pressure or the output
to air hose dial reading?

Sorry, both dials read 40 PSI then I just shut it off.

Going into my local hobby shop tomorrow and I'm going to hook my AB to their compressor and see what happens.

Also, I'm going to try and take it completely apart and clean it tonight. Maybe there is something still gunked up in there.

Thanks

Ok, now that you have the tank filled, disconnect your airbrush
and see how the airflow from the hose is.

If you have good airflow, then the problem is in
the airbrush but if you have minimal airflow without
the airbrush connected then the problem can be in the
regulator or the hose.

Also check airflow without the hose connected.

also prepare a mix of Dishsoap and water then put some drop on every connection,if you see some bubbles means there you have a leak....easy...also try the AB without the needle and see if something change

by the way you've emptied the tank out of the water using the valve on the bottom of the tank?

I unscrewed the valve on the bottom of the tank and no water came out.

Solid air comes out of the hose when I turn the compressor on without the AB attached .

What gets me is why can't I adjust the PSI now? I could prior to attempting to put on the moisture trap. Now, I turn the knob and the pressure needle doesn't even move.

try turning the knob and then releasing a little pressure from the end of the line and see if the needle moves

OK, now the regulator is working (this is without the moisture trap on....it's messing up me using the regulator some how), however, still no air out of the airbrush.

I'm taking this thing completely apart (found a youtube video for my AB)

So.....I took it apart and cleaned it again. I took off the nozzle and the head base part, hooked the AB up to the compressor and air was coming out at a pretty good clip.

After closely inspecting the tiny nozzle piece it doesn't look right. It's too small to see but it looks like the threading is damaged or something because I'm having difficulty screwing the thing back on.

I might just order a replacement part and see if that fixes things.

Still need to figure out the whole moisture trap thing, but the tiny nozzle seems to be broken and I think it happened when I tried tightening it last week. I cannot screw the little bugger back in.

Time to order some parts

That's why I do not like Iwata and I prefer my infinity and patriot, self centring nozzle, no tread no problem, with my old compressor I had problems with in line moisture trap like yours, the best ones are the fix ones, like these ...

they are cheap, and you can find them with or without regulator, I have one at the compressor and one attached to the work table for convenience, living in the tropics moisture never misses

Well, I might try a new brush after the new year. I'm not experienced enough to know any better, but I'm NOT a fan of this AB.

However, I LOVE a trigger AB. I've can't do the single/double action brushes.

I'm running a Grex TS3, love the trigger.
