He fellas. I've tried Vallejo and AK matt varnishes but they have both left a sheen. I know of Hubrol and Windsor and Newton but I want to airbrush them and I don't put solvents through my airbrush so they're out.
I've noticed there's one from Mig, Ultra Matt Lucky Varnish. Has anyone tried that or can you recommend something else?
And can you give me any application tips? Am I just expecting too much in hoping a couple of coats will yield a completely matt finish?
Thanks guys.

Microscale - Micro Coat Flat
I regularly use this, as my top coat. I recommend reducing it 5:1(paint:water).

Of all the matte varnish that I have tried in all my years of
model building, AK INTERACTIVE ULTRA MATTE is the best I've used.
It is an acrylic...easy to use out of the bottle...and gives
an absolute dead flat.
Cheers,
Joe

I second (third, indeed...) the comments on AK Ultra Matte. Easy to apply and completely flat finish.

Vellejo does make two different flat varnishes. One is acrylic and the other urethane. Personally, I really like their flat urethane varnish. (Thins with their regular acrylic thinner.)

Thanks guys. But the Ak Ultra Matte is the one I've just tried and it didn't work. I airbrushed it on to some 1:35 figures and they're still shiny. I shook the bottle for a full three minutes.

Mate you are the most unlucky kid in the neighborhood, you're the first one I eard has had problems with the ultra matt, with the normal matt ok but the ultra matt 183 usually guarantees the death flat effect, you thinn the stuff or strait from the bottle? ...
