I know that somewhere that there's an answer to this question , but darned if I can find it . So . How do you go about figuring out the bumper codes and symbols on WWII U.S. Vehicles ? I've got no clue and a bunch of unregistered tanks and tracks running around hiding from the MPs !

Nowadays it's easy, for us it was battalion on one side of the bumper, vehicle on the the other. Our numbers broke down further. A32 meant Alpha Co, 3rd plt, 2nd vehicle. Even number vehicles were ECM, odds were ESM. Numbers 0 and 6 reserved for the platoon leader and platoon sgt.

WWII got confusing.
