Canadian white star position

Though posted earlier elsewhere the question is still open:

Apparently Canadian troops applied the white stars on their vehicles a bit off-set from the intended position.
The line over the two star arms (left and right) wasn't horizontal, but tipped a bit.
While doing so one could see that they were Canadian (some sort of a trade mark).
How common was this?
And did it appear on 3rd InfantryDivisionBren carriers?

I am not sure how common it was, but the Canadians were not happy with the use of the "American" star on their vehicles, while I have seen images of it offset, I have also seen images of it applied upside down. I do believe all the images I have seen were on Universal Carriers belonging to the 3rd CID.

I will have a look through my references and see if I can find the images.
