H.M.T. this means How Many Tools . Last night after quitting working on the Churchill Crocodile i wanted to do something to get my stuff together on the bench. After continuus builds a lot of stuff has gone here and there so i started gathering tools and everything and i found my self with a lot of tools at hand that so many years i had not realised i was having ( i mean the number) so i sterted counting guys (just tools no materials no spares like blades or drills hand and power tools only ) i wouldn believe it!!!!!
So here is the questions:
1) How many tools do you have ?
2) Which is the bigger number of tools u use on the bench for a build at almost the same time?

i counted no more or less 119 different tools !!!!!
And the layed out on the bench for the croco build were 43 tools at the same time!!!!

So thats in the start of gathering , the pic below!!!!

i am listening to you

i only have about 50 tools in the exclusive to the model tool chest but I use a lot of the power tools to make cut bases and trim, construct jigs, rotary tools, etc. in my workshop (different from my model room). If we are counting the tools from for the work shop tool chest and garage toolchest than I can see about 100+ tools used for modeling. Not every tool in the workshop and garage tool chests has been used for models

Wow, 119 tools? I'm sure I have more than I think I do but I can't think of anywhere near that many. A sprue cutter, exacto knife, pin vise with drill bits, a rotary tool with a few bits, things like that are all that come to mind. I don't even think my LHS carries 119 tools.

I am not going to actually count either. I will say this: I have enough scalpels, hemostats, little scissors, super glue, latex gloves, needles, thread, and Scotch (half for me and half for the patient) in the basement to safely (and that is a relative term) take out someone's appendix...

Lets see, I have an X-acto, an ordinary hobby knive, four different tweezers, a sprue cutter, a metal wire cutter/bunder, a Dremel with various bits, a straight edge and some drills. I guess that makes around 15 different tools.

I have enough tools to not be able to find the one I want without moving something. However, for most of the work I do, I use about a dozen. But, I am very glad I have the rest when I need them!

(It has taken me over 40 years to gather my tools, in case anybody thought that all you had to do was drop a whole bunch of money at once to be fully set up. How do you know what tool you will need until you have that use for it?)

Yep i have to agree with you i ve gathered my tools in the 24 years of modelling (i dont include a workingplace for home repairs that carries a huge load of power and other tools welding, grinders, circle saws, jig saws, and many more) And there are some tools i bought and didnt used for 2-3-5 yeras and when i really took the use of them i couldnt do without them. There are others like knives, pliers, pin vises, that i use all the time from the day i bought them. There are tools that are really very useful and others that have dissapoint me (ot they dont fit my working style maybe !!) but anyway after all this years i dont recall a single tools that i bought and didnt proved to be useful more or less

I probably have about 20 of which most are different size files. I don't have any power tools. I do everything with 2 different size x-acto knives and a razor saw. I think it should be kept simple.

Yep this is one side of the coin keep it simple. The other one says " make it easier" i mean why use an x acto knife to scrib on thick plastic while my olfa cribber does it in a flick of the moment and perfectly well? any way it a mater of different point of view and of course where to invest your money in the hobby . All ideas respevted the same !!!!
