From a far I have been watching the destruction of AMPs, it is similar to what happens to a lot of IPMS clubs when politics is put above model building, fellowship, and sharing knowledge.
There is alot more to the AMPs story that is not being told, but it all boils down to politics. Plain and simple. It is what is killing the hobby for young people who simply want to learn and have fun.
You would think that the older crowd would know better, but a lot of them are more interest in the "politics" than building.
