If you ask me, it's a good show (one of my faves). What can I say, I seem to have an inclniation for anything military. I'd prefer this rather than other law-based TV dramas.

Of course, my only comment is they ought to lose those Top Gun scenes as the main character Cmdr. Rabb (played by David James Elliot) spends more time in a court room, doing investigations than flying.

Catherine Bell (who plays Mac) is something. I figure the romantics out there are probably making a pool when Harm and Mac will commit (romantically).

Nope there's less bs. The producers are very careful to consult technical consultants to ensure they are not exaggerating or distorting the truth on how the US Navy operates.

Catherine Bell (Mac) was one of the women featured in FHM Phil. edition last year I think, can't remember the exact month but I did have the issue before somebody borrowed it & didn't return it.

S-Red,

JAG stands for Judge Advocate General, this are the elite legal wing of officers trained as lawyers who investigate, prosecute and defend those accused of crimes in the military, including murder, treason and terrorism.

anyway, we're just discussing the TV series. Because for me, it's a good show and it's been running since 97 or 98.

if you want to watch it, tune in ch 9 evry mon. 8pm (free advertisement for rpn 9)

:-) but they are showing the early seaons of JAG

good day

CATHERINE BELL! CATHERINE BELL! CATHERINE BELL!

An episode was particularly seared in my brain. In that episode, she was wearing a skimpy green bikini. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... skimpy......... mmmmmmmmmmmm........

FYI, Robb's has some "nice" photos of her. :-)

Like what Tanker has said, JAG is the legal division of the military (any armed forces around the world has one), in this case, the US Navy and Marine Corps.

The the main character in the series is Commander Harmon "Harm" Rabb, USN (played by David James Elliott), a naval aviator (on the side) who is JAG's top gun lawyer. But the story is not all courtroom drama. Being a military man, he also does detective work and when the situation calls for it, gets involved in some combat situations, either on the ground or in his favorite mount, an F-14 Tomcat.

The series is cool. It mixes drama with bits of action, and some lighter comic and romantic moments.

The "Mac" the fellas are clamoring about is LTC Sarah MacKenzie, USMC (played by Catherine Bell) who is Rabb's partner/rival (in the courtroom) and friend/love interest (outside the courtroom).

The show now has 8 (and counting) seasons. What's shown in Channel 9 are the earlier seasons. You'd know because Rabb was still a junior officer rising above the ranks. Mac won't show until the later seasons when Rabb made Lieut. Commander.

Here are the other cast/characters (for the uninitiated) to bring you up to speed:

RAdm AJ Chegwidden (John Jackson). The Judge Advocate General. If you notice that big badge on his uniform, he is a Navy SEAL before he became a navy lawyer.

Lt Bud Roberts (Patrick Labyorteaux). He used to be a junior member of the JAG team but as he rose in rank, he got to handle cases on his own. He married Harriet Sims (played by Karri Turner), who used to serve on a carrier before being transferred to JAG HQ.

Cdr Sturgis Turner (Scott Lawrence). Rabb's friend. Where Rabb is an aviator, Chewgwidden is a SEAL, he's a submariner. Very athletic and equally competent as Rabb and Mac in the courtroom. He has recently been dating Congresswoman Latham whom Rabb used to work with in the past.

PO Jason Tiner (Chuck Carrington). Chegwidden's secretary who is studying for the bar exam and plans to be a lawyer someday.

Lt. Harriet Sims-Roberts (Karri Turner). Bud's wife who also works as part of the administrative staff at JAG. You can tell from the emblem on their shoulder boards and jacket sleeves. JAG lawyers wear a special emblem in lieu of the star.

Lt. Loren Singer (Nanci Chambers). An ambitious JAG lawyer who aspires to be the irst female JAG someday. BTW, she is the real-life wife of David Elliott.

GSgt Victor Galindez (Randy Ortiz). He also was a member of the administrative staff at JAG before he was transferred to combat duties.

They're the regulars. The recurring cast members:

Cdr Mick Brumby (played by the late Trveor Goddard) Rabb's rival both in the courtroom and Mac. Deep down he hates the Aussie's personality made worse when he made a move on Mac. He used to serve as an exchange lawyer serving at JAG HQ. To be close to Mac, he resigned his commission and practiced private law in the US.

Sergei Volkov Rabb (Jade Carter). Rabb's long-lost half-brother. Rabb Sr. was transferred to the Soviet Union after being shot down in Vietnam. He escaped prison and sought refuge in a farmhouse where he met Sergei's mother. He was killed saving her. After serving in the Russian army and being a POW in Chechnya, he emigrated to the US.

more to come...

I've read the episode guide in cbs, and their is an episode that will feature manila. They are investigating a terrorist cell or something like that... anyway i can't wait the new season to be shown in star. anyway did u know that before catherine bell became a mainstay, she appeared first as a guest. Her a character is a murdered lt in that episode. But the producer immediately like her and made her a cast/star.

Yup, same site. :-) I just did a google search with the proper keywords and found out that the site is indeed under some situation. I got a message about them having a copyright dispute with fortunecity. Sooooooo..........

......those who weren't able to see Catherine Bell in that 'uniform', hehehe tough luck! I think those were scenes from "Blue Slipper Journals" hehehehe

Flex: Yup, green. It was a disguise to take down some people I think. It was in a yacht setting/port/whatever. She was flirty (so just imagine.... mmmmmmmmm....). I think there's another bikini scene of hers, the one you talked about (mmmmmmmmmm....... even better, blue skimpy bikini....... mmmmmmmmmm............) hehehe

4-Eyes: Well, she was in her "natural element" in the pix I mentioned hehehe Ooooh! Ooooh! Also in "very compromising positions" hehehehehe

Jomz: Yup, I'm hoping for the best alright nyahahahahahaha!

Eh...Catherine Bell fan ren ako, he he. I've most of her nice FHM spreads, and a couple of video-clips, plus this episode short where she was dressing up -- Tom Clancy freak pa yung character niya sa JAG.

I'll have a big Mac please, and an extra order of skimpy fries to go.

Its a great show, but I'll have to agree to the earlier post that they stop making the lead character fly Tomcats. If there was a downside to this series, its the fact that Rabb is a great court martial litigator, a Top Gun pilot, and sometimes gets into commando actions. If he was wearing a computer eyelens thingy and a handsfree mike, he might as well be Universal Soldier. I take it this show was produced by the same people that gave us Pensacola (small unit action; top heavy organization).

Say, Tanker. Maybe you wanna revise the title of this thread to military-based TV series (if ever anybody starts talking about Pensacola, etc.)

Before JAG, I enjoyed watching that show too. Made me fall in love with those F/A-18's as well, not to mention impressed on how versatile an individual US Marine can be.

The only thing worth watching in Pensacola Wings of Gold was the blond, short-haired pilot. The rest of the show is crap IMO.

I prefer JAG meself, but I really don't like lawyer shows in general.

IIRC, there's another series out there called Naval Investigation or something like that. I dunno if this is JAG re-titled/repackaged, because it stars the same actor as Rabb. It's AFAIK a CSI-clone, this time in the Navy. Less humor than JAG (judging from the trailers of the series). AFAIK, this hasn't been shown in the Philippines yet (new show - last year it started in the USA I think. WOWOW was showing trailers of it about to debut in Japan a few months ago).

WoWoW is always ahead of things, one great reason why I'm sticking with Pque Cable (even if the other cable-providers unfairly offer Animax to their subscribers!), plus WoWoW minus the intermitent porn airings, has very very good content with regards to TV-show reruns (good luck with getting accurate schedules, though) plus they're the only channel I know who correctly air movies in their rightful widescreen format.

Now this is starting to be a TV-thread..

Oh, a mention of CSI, now that's a show I religiously follow.

I've always wondered, what happened to Rabb's blond assistant? I remember watching an episode (I think it was that NTC or Naval Strike Warfare episode) wherein Rabb (he already had Mac for his assistant) and Mac were waiting in the desert when a Humvee comes in with the blonde assistant in it who gives Rabb some documents. Mac was a bit jealous and asked who she was, to which Rabb (I think) says a close friend or something like that.

----- i think you're talking about Navy NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) also in CBS.

Yeah it's nice to talk about our fav tv series. so what the hell! here is my list:

JAG
CSI LV (iba pa rin ang orig)
Boomtown (asteeg din to, not to mention 2 of the cast is in BofB, Mcdonough and donnie walhberg)
Third Watch (from the producer of ER)
That 70's Show (all they can think of is Sex!)
CSI Miami (too bad, lakas din ng appeal ni kim delayne)
ALIAS (though kind of corny)

From HBO original
6 feet under
In the Mind of a married man (tama ba title)

Tanker,

I followed Nam Tour of Duty too. Great stuff, all in all. But not perfect. Its just about the only combat zone show that does not have any profanity. Id say the soldiers were raised well by their parents. Hehehe! About the best episode IMO is the one where their platoon creamed an ARVN platoon. You guys remember that?

Flex,
yeah, I remember the blonde Lt. She was hot too, in her own right. And she had great, creamy legs to boot!

Wow, a lot of similarities with regards to tastes ha! Galing galing! hehe!

CSI Miami relies on too much drama. Although David "Mr. Intense" Caruso does Detective Caine's part justice.
