I need some good flat black surface primer. Any suggestions? I prefer to stay away from Vallejo.

If anyone has a direct link to some good stuff please post it, it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Once upon a time I used to reach for a rattle can of Games Workshop's Chaos Black - it was a fine primer! Then they started a policy of "deliberate inflation" that quickly put their paints out of economic reach. If you find it and can afford it, it's pretty good stuff...

You could try Tamiya Spray flat black, since it's a lacquer it doesn't react to acrylic or enamel thinners and when dry it provides a harder surface than enamel. I find these paints useful, especially for large kits and also for monotone camouflage, when applied correctly they provide an amazingly smooth surface.
