With HTML (Armorama):
The 2017 AMPS – Great White North Show is less than two months away! The show is taking place at the Ontario Regiment RCAC Tank Museum at Oshawa airport on May 26-27, 2017. It’s shaping up to be a great show, just like last year’s. The show’s unique combination of an AMPS show plus a full-sized military vehicle re-enactment makes this a must-see event for armour modellers in the area. The strong US dollar makes this show a real bargain for for our American friends this year!

Preregistration for the show will be live on Saturday, April 8th. You can preregister here:
http://www.ampsgreatwhitenorth.com/registration/PreReg.aspx
If you're planning to come to the show and enter, then preregistration helps both you (it will be quicker to get your models entered) and the show organizers (it helps us anticipate how many models are going to be at the show, how many judges we're going to need, etc.). Please note that there is a discount for AMPS members – make sure you have your AMPS Member ID number handy when you register!
You can also sign up for judging shifts (also under the “registration” tab) for either Friday night or Saturday. As anybody who has been to a show with an open judging system (either AMPS or something similar) knows, we need a lot of help to make the show happen. In particular, we need lots of people to pitch in with judging. To that end, we've added a form on our site where you can sign up for judging sessions:
http://www.ampsgreatwhitenorth.com/registration/JudgingSignup.aspx
If you do two judging shifts, you’ll get a spiffy AMPS – Great White North t-shirt that will make you the envy of your armour modelling friends!

We’ve also still got some sponsorship opportunities available. Details can be found at: http://www.ampsgreatwhitenorth.com/supporters/Sponsors.aspx Thanks to all who have already thrown their support behind the show; we couldn’t do this without your help.
Aside from 50-odd vending tables and a really, really nice raffle table for the model side of the show, the museum is holding its "Tank Day" that weekend, so there will be plenty of real tanks and other armoured vehicles out and about (including, but not limited to, a couple of M4A2E8 Shermans, an M3A1 Stuart, an M24 Chaffee, an M60A3, and an M551 Sheridan, along with a T-54, BMP-1, many M113 variants – like the TUA – and examples of all versions of the AVGP family), as well as the Ferret Club's drive-in show and swap meet, re-enactors camped on-site, and more. This year they will be joined by no less than five Leopard 1s!

If you come out on Friday, May 26, aside from being able to enter your models early, hit the vendors (they will be open from 3:00 to 6:00), and participate in judging, you will have the opportunity to get up close to and inside many of the vehicles on display.

For a $5 donation to the museum, you can get up close and personal the museum’s vehicles from noon until 5:00PM, so you can photograph to your heart’s content, free from the crowds. Also, we’re going to have the AMPS – Great White North mixer on Friday night; details will follow on the AMPS – Great White North site.
This is a great opportunity to experience an AMPS show north of the border. The combination of model vehicles and full-scale vehicles promises to be a great show for all attendees. We hope to see you there!
Cheers,
Scott Taylor

The AMPS Great White North Show is coming up soon! The show is taking place at the Ontario Regiment RCAC Tank Museum at Oshawa airport on May 26-27, 2017. If you like models and tanks, then we can promise a good time if you come out. We’re going to have some new tanks (five Leopard 1s) and a special visitor (Camp Borden’s Wirbelwind antiaircraft vehicle, one of two in the world, is apparently going to be trucked into the show!), as well as all of the usual suspects, both real and scale.

It’s looking like it’s going to be a great show, but we need your help to make it happen. As any show organizer can tell you, the ultimate success of a show depends on the people who attend the show. Thorough planning, a great selection of vendors, a big raffle table, and all the other things that can make a great model show are for naught if people don’t come to the show, bring models to enter, and volunteer to help out with judging at the show. With an AMPS show, the need for people to pitch in and help with judging is even greater because the judging system, where each model gets written feedback from a team of judges, is very labour-intensive. Thus, we’re asking those of you within feasible travelling distance of the greater Toronto, Ontario, area to come out to the show, bring along models to enter, and help out with judging.

We’re doing all we can to make things convenient for attendees. Full details of the show, including preregistration, is available on the show's site: http://www.ampsgreatwhitenorth.com/. Preregistration makes life easier for you (no lineups and paperwork to fill out at the show or money to hand over on the spot) and for us (less work at the registration table and a better idea of how many models are coming). You can also find out information about the Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum’s open house, which includes military vehicle displays and demonstrations, the Ontario Military Vehicle Association’s flea market, and more. If you come out on Friday afternoon, then you’ll also have the opportunity to get up close to and inside many of the vehicles on display. For a $5 donation to the museum, you can have interior and exterior access to the museum’s vehicles from noon until 5:00PM, so you can photograph to your heart’s content, free from the crowds. Additionally, the vending area will be open for business from 3:00-5:00PM on Friday afternoon for early shopping. Also, we’re going to have the AMPS – Great White North mixer on Friday night, after the first judging shift is done. So you can have a chance to kick back and relax with fellow armour modellers and some nice Canadian beers!

As mentioned above, we need lots of people to pitch in with judging. For your convenience, we've added a form on our site where you can sign up for judging sessions:
http://www.ampsgreatwhitenorth.com/registration/JudgingSignup.aspx
To show our appreciation for our judges, anybody who does two judging shifts gets an AMPS – Great White North t-shirt.

I hope to see many of you in Oshawa!

Cheers,
Scott Taylor
