I've tried the optivisor but it just doesn't work for me and my glasses. I bought a swing arm lamp/magnifying lens off from Amazon - but it turned out to be too cheap and won't stay in place while I work.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good magnifier mounted on a swing arm (preferably with a light built in, but not absolutely necessary)?

My old eyes need a little help with these newer kits.

I picked up a pair of these:

they work pretty well with my glasses.

Greg,
I also wear glasses, and have found the optivisor indispensable--much better than any of the myriad other options I've tried--but I use a different power lens than the one provided with the optivisor. Have you tried a different power lens to see if that works better?

I do also have a gooseneck lamp with a built-in magnifier which is very useful for some things, but I got it in Japan and couldn't tell you where to find it in the US.

Hi there,

I suffer from this, also. I tie flies, and have found a great lamp for modeling that I stole from my tying bench:

Looks like some kind of high-tech torture device!

Just out of curiosity, and this is no joke-- have you tried using your Opti-visor WITHOUT your glasses? I have a version from Micro-Mark(not an Optivisor) that comes with five interchangeable lenses, and mounting points to combine any two lenses, if you combine any two of these, they will give you microscopic power (almost). But, I usually work with my glasses off, since I wear trifocals, and found I just need the assistance of the optics in the hood, when I wear glasses that messes everything up.
