There's about 2 months before the largest gathering of armor modelers in North America in 2017 leaves the man cave and heads out to Danbury, CT for the AMPS 2017 International Show being held at the Crowne Plaza, Danbury Hotel from April 20-22, 2017.

If you haven't yet, visit the newly designed AMPS homepage at amps-armor.org for lodging information, directions, show theme , AMPS Reviews and on-line registration, just to name a few . It was a long time coming, but it's here and fantastic. And don't forget to check us out on AMPS Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AMPS armor).

Below are the latest show announcements to read and heed:

•Just as a reminder, on-line registration for the AMPS 2017 Show is open until April 13, 2017. Registering on-line allows you to fill out model entry forms in the privacy of the modeling cave, print them out and bring them to the show. When you get to the show, there's a special line for on-line registrants that allows you to drop off your forms and model entries and hit the vendors and link up with friends.

•Since over 90% of the rooms have been booked, the hotel (Crowne Plaza) has added a few more rooms that can be had at the AMPS Show rate of 99.00, Wednesday through Sunday (19th-23rd). Once they are gone, the price goes up. So, if you haven't booked your rooms, now would be a great time to ensure you've got lodging for the show.

•Seminar schedule is posted on the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org). Check it out as there is a fantastic variety of topics coupled with great speakers.

•There are still opportunities to help sponsor some of the model categories and "Best of's" awards. Contact Brett Avants for additional information who can be contacted on the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org). Payments can be made through Paypal.

•Consider stepping up to judge at the show. There's a lot of great models that need to be judged and we can't do a great job and in a timely manner with only a handful of volunteers. Never judged before? No worries. There will be AMPS judging classes at the show and will walk you through all you need to know. Judging two shifts earns you an AMPS Crew tee shirt complete with show logo.

Finally, as we all know, AMPS has always relied on volunteers to donate time, skills and, yes, sometime money to help support setting up the various shows and provide society services such as the Boresight and AMPS Review Crew. One of the big ways to help fund activities and services for the society is the ever popular and fantastic raffle held at the big show. AMPS is appealing to the membership to consider helping out with the raffle this year.

Armor fans, once again this year, we need your help with making the AMPS International Show raffle a really memorable one. We have many great items that have been donated by our friends in the hobby industry, but with your generous help, we can add to the piles of goodies available to be raffled. Please consider donating any NEW-condition armor or armor-related kits, publications, tools, or aftermarket goodies that you can spare to the raffle. This is going to a good cause, folks. The raffle greatly helps fund AMPS operating expenses, such as bringing you an all-color Boresight magazine.

Please be generous and help AMPS continue to serve our hobby! Your donations will be greatly appreciated, and donors will be thanked in the show issue of Boresight! So please get those kits that you know you'll never really get around to building into this year's raffle, where a lucky winner might win and actually build them! Please get your donations to Henry Milton, AMPS Raffle Master, either at the show or mailing them to him directly. Henry can be reached at:

3051 Kempton Park Road
Suffolk, VA 23435

Until next time, continue to visit the AMPS homepage for show updates and keep building; April's coming!

Actually, you can just walk into the room where the seminar is being held. In the past, some speakers and/or topics were so popular than others, there was 'standing room only', but to my knowledge, no one was turned away; they just got more chairs. Please note: if you are planning to attend and sign up to judge, you'll want to coordinate when your judging shift starts with the seminar(s) you are planning to attend. Hope you can make it to the show!
