Hey Guys,
Well im in the market for a puch tool and there are three manufactures of this tool set.Waldron,Historex, and VLS by 5 star tools. So who has the best set? What is the main purpose of this not so cheap tool.Since I have only two years of building military models is it necessary for me to purchase one or not yet.I stared with Italeri's M4A1 Sherman OOB and went well my second was Willy's Jeep.Between those models are many Figure kits I have built.I am no pro but I think Im better at figures than Armor but armor just gets my attention so much and I want learn more and more. My First book was Modeling Realistic Tanks and Armor by Kalmbach not the exact name but close enough and this book recommended it so this is why I ask. Since then I have purchased sevral books by Verlinden painting figures,Painting realistic figures by Kalmbach as guides and helpful hints when Im not in front of the PC.

Thanx
Sorry for the long Story.

I have used Both Waldron for the round punch set plus ordered some from the Plastic people posted at top!
I like the waldron set better then the Historex set which is hex as they are not that good the set that does the Hex ones I have to use a thick piece of plastic or comes out deformed ,Reason the way they built the metal plate as it is a hex Actually looks like an ALLEN WRENCH cut and stuck in a handle they drilled up from bottom of plate and I guess just punched thru the final 1000's of an inch with a hex punch I guess they don't make HEX DRILLS
So that is my Poop on them suckers ,get yourself a set of GOOD ALLEN WRENCHES from Sears for $15.00 and cut away!!!

I do most of my detailing on 1/35th armor, so I got the Waldron standard set and like it very much. The larger punches are perfect for filling Academy ejector pin marks in M113 interiors
The smaller are useful all over.

As for hexes, I just bought plastruct hex rod ($2 a package) and a razor blade. A little practice and I can make evenly sized bolt heads.
