inflating a balloon.

Today I was inflating a small, rather "stiff", balloon when my wife asked me if the balloon was approximately the same size/volume as a human lung. I said that I believed that my lungs (male, 6 foot four inches tall) were slightly larger.
So I took a deep breath and inflated it fully, and then some extra ... apparently since it burst with a BANG. One of the slices of rubber slapped me on the right eye-ball .....
D*mn it hurts !!

And this is the reason why you should keep your eyes closed when blowing air into a balloon, or wear glasses or some other kind of eye protection. Maybe use an air pump instead ?

If this had happened in the US I might have tried suing the manufacturer ??

There are times when only "D'oh!" will do...

Hope the eye is okay!
