After a 20 somthing year hiatus I've returned to my first hobby, model building. Ihave been back at it for a little while building mostly WWII aircraft but recently ventured into armor. Most of the stuff so far has been OOB, following the directions all the way to the last page. I am now ready to start making them look more "real", ie: weathering, getting rid of seam lines.

I would like to thank everyone involved in running this excellent site and all those who contribute for the wealth and quality of info provided here and look forward to talking to others in the hobby.

Welcome to the site Kaboom, and glad to hear you're 'taking up the Xacto' again. Without going into a long-winded ramble, suffice it to say that you have been fortunate enough to stumble upon the best armour site on the net! Give it just a little while and, believe me, you'll be hooked.
Not only to the site itself, but to the friendly, informative, and supportive bunch of blokes that have assembled here.
Spend a little time, peruse, and enjoy!

Tread. :-)

Welcome Kaboom !
It's true that it sounds a bit like cheering the arrival of the space invaders :
small voices : Welcome !
big crash : KABOOM !
Sorry for that disgression...
It's always fun to learn from the others and tell them the little you know !

If you are truly interested in getting rid of seams, get the sanding sticks from Squadron Mail Order www.squadron.com, Squadron putty (green or white) and those Testors or Model Master assorted sanding films. They come in handy and last for years. I got great service from Squadron while stationed in Germany, and that was pre-internet when all ordering was done via snail mail.

I have a little more than 4 years to retirement, but will stay in until they kick me out.

Is there something in the water? It seems like there are a lot of us here (people who took a break from model building for a while and then got back to it). We all seem to find our way here to. As you can tell I recently came back to model building and love this site, welcome aboard.
