My wife and I are from Reno. Well, she's from Sparks. Currently stationed in South Texas but hopefully coming back towards that part of the world in a few months

Excellent!
Sorry for the slow response but work got in the way. My name is Scott by the way. Nice to meet you. I usually build armor models but I like all genres for a little changeup. I hope to here from you. Take care

Hey. Just stumbled into your post. Was thinking I was the only model builder in Northern Nev. Involved with 1/35 armor but been through 1/350 ship, 1/72 aviation and armor phases too.

Live in Sun Valley and IPMS does have a chapter in Reno. The chapter does have a web page; use IPMS Reno for your search.

Used to build models (mainly aircraft), but quit 15 years or so ago. Stuff happened and it just wasn't any more fun. But my modeling mojo started coming back late last year and with all the zombie/apocalypse type movies/tv series on, wondered if anyone was doing any modeling on this subject. Oh yeah!

Since then, bought a bunch of diecast vehicles because there are few CURRENT vehicle kits available. They lack a lot of interior detail, so hello scratch building along with making molds of various things like car seats, entire vehicle bodies so I can have open doors, dumpsters, mail boxes, gas pumps, etc. All of this is 1/35th scale. As to my military stash, using some of them as military surplus along with of course, buying more recent soft skin stuff. Printed up various signs: stop, warning, pandemic, etc. along with tiles and wood floors.

Hope this helps.

Reno area as well, just up the road from UNR, I build all sorts of things, Armor and such, but Ive recently gotten into ships big time. Either way, I'm Cameron, nice to meet you.
I have two questions:
1. To attend the IPMS meetings do you need to be a member?

And 2: Since were all from around here, are there any hobby shops in Reno?
