I have a technique for applying decals. Spray the model with glosscoat. Apply the decals, using decal set. Spray the model with another layer of glosscoat to seal them in and mask the silvering. Spray the entire model with dullcoat to give it a more realistic luster. The problem is when I use this technique on a model with alumminum finish, the dullcoat reduces the aluminium luster. How can I apply decals without dulling the aluminium finish?

Use a satin finish instead. The aluminum will retain its luster.
