Just put up a Deuce and a half walk around. Take a look and let me know what you think! If I am not mistaken it is a M35 (please correct me if I am mistaken).

Great photos, again! Yes, this is M35. M35A2 to be exact if I'm not mistaken.

The mention of the walk-around made me check the data plate on one of the M35A2s sitting in my motor pool. It was produced in 1966!!
Luckily that truck and its three running mates that belong to the Rigger company have been replaced by four brand new Stewart-Stevenson 2.5 ton trucks :-)

Thanks for all the compliments. As soon as the weather cooperates, I have a bunch more units to shoot at the SDNG Museum.
By the way, if there are any other detail shots needed of this unit, speak up. This is sitting over at the Military Surplus shop here in Chamberlain.

Howdy dbusack,
Thx for the pics. Very nice ' variant' for us softskin buffs! Now, my brain is going to start thinking how to simulate that thermal rear covering......

Good photos Don, thanks for posting them. I have never seen this variation of the A2 before. Does anyone know the reason of using singles on the rear instead of the common dual set up?

I got lucky and caught another vehicle that I think will fall in that soft skin catagory. I just happened to have my camera with me when a truck pulled into a truck stop with 2 M1088s on the back. I shot as good of a set as I could and will be putting it up tomorrow.

Is there any interest in interior and under the hood shots of this vehicle? I have permission to do so, so let me know.

Better off-road performance. These are the larger, tactical tires, sometimes fitted to the Deuce. They have a bigger "bite" and the powered front wheels actually cut the path in sloshy terrain better than the omni-directional tires. The rear wheels aren't partially cutting their own tracks like in the dualie arrangement, giving the driver better handling performance, even with a slightly heavier payload, with the single-wheel setup.

I thought I had seen pics of about every M35 in the US army by now since I scratchbuilt my own, but I never saw this winterized troops carrier version. Interesting !
