Good evening:

Many years ago I purchased a 1/48 Me-262 Mistel combination. I think it was put out by either Dragon or DML. In any event, when I got it home I almost instantly regretted the purchase because after doing a web search for this combination I found nothing, and I repeat nothing about it. So I thought that I had purchased a Luft-46 creation and put it in the stash to sit forever.

Lo these many years later while browsing World War II aircraft pictures on Pinterest I come across this:

Heavens, it looks exactly like the box art on the kit I purchased.

I still can hardly believe my eyes that this monster existed. Is it truly real? Does anyone know anything about its operational use or even test flights? Now I'm fascinated with the subject.

I can't say for certain... But this thing seems to scream photoshop.

Apparently it never got of the drawing board! http://www.48specialmodels.com/e-produkte/e-48-m4.html

Never been a big fan of Luft 46. I prefer actual service birds to what ifs. The only prototype that interests me at all is the McDonnell XP-67 because I have a silly weakness for twin engined fighters and because it has a truly unique shape.

Looks like a photo of a model to me. And I've never seen any evidence of its existence in reality either.

I think so, too! But the setting and photograph seem perfect! Very nicely done.

Indeed a nice photo of a model. The tires on the trailer is one give-away -- look how one of the tires on the right don't make contact with the ground.

Ah yes! That's the clearest giveaway. It also doesn't appear that this combo was even on the drawing board, though opinions seem to differ on that: http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=842
