Good morning. I have been a long time follower of Armorama and have found a wealth of knowledge from all you members through the years. One question I can not seem to find an answer to is if wood was used as the support post for the frame antennas on the German command vehicles. Some very rare color pictures seem to suggest this but I have yet to confirm it. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Welcome on board Russell!
Yes, I have seen it as well and read somewhere that it was wood in order to isolate the antenna from the metal hull. Also the ordinary straight antennae had a rubber base for the same reason.

Thank you Varanusk! That is exactly what I was thinking. I saw an early war home/propaganda movie of vehicles driving down a road and the support posts did not look to have been painted. The color looked to me to be wood but I have never seen any other pictures to confirm it.
