OK, I got a Britta Filter and cut it open... is this the stuff he was talking about in the article?? Has anyone tried the technique with a Brita filter?

Hi all,
Not sure about the Britta filter, never tried that brand. The ones I use are the product from Boot's the chemist. Once opened you will find millions of little balls among the charcoal. I use them all the time for rivets, they work great. Because they vary in size they are virtually appropriate for all scales. Hope this helps.

Ok guys, can you explain to me what you are doing with what ? I don't know the term Brita filter and also the brand "Boot" doesn't ring a bell.
If this is a way to reproduce rivets (like on the Humvee bodywork) I'd like to know more about this.
Marcel, this article here at ArmoramA TipSheet: Rivets by the Million explains what they are talking about.

OK, I found the brand, in the US, anyway. I bought a Pur filter today and there they were, little tiny resin balls. They will work for this purpose and are a lot of them! They are mixed in with the charcoal, but easy to grab a couple at a time...
