All,

I've finally started working on some "Aftermarket" bumpers for the Meng F-350 kits.

I don't want to take the (full) kit to work, and can't take the CAD software home, so I wind up doing paper mockups to confirm Form/Fit/Function. I'm not sure if I'll add brushguards, or make them separate yet. I'll probably do a few rear bumpers as well.

Here's a preview of the 3 I have started so far:

All,

I haven't ordered any of them for myself to verify the fit, But I've measured & remeasured & printed on paper to mock them up.

I have 4 different "sets" available in 1/35 scale:
2 "Plate" Bumper options

2 "Pipe" bumper options.

I'm awaiting a "loan' of the 1/24 scale bumpers to verify them.

Thanks!

Matt - the bumper sets look awesome. Great job on them. Any chance you could do the correct turn signal and trim parts for a fleet truck as opposed to a dressed up one as in the kit? The area that needs to be changed is the headlight/turn signal cluster on the front.

Here are some examples.

Kit

Fleet light setup and lesser trim package

This is one of those moments, when I wish I had the printer!!! (or a 3D scanner) I'm not sure if I should try doing the whole Grille, or just the turn signal/Headlight area of it. Trying to replicate it is going to take some time.

I'll likely try it sometime soon, once I get caught up with some of the other stuff, I'm getting asked (hounded in a couple cases) for as well.

Your best bet would probably be to just design replacement headlight/turn signal clusters for the sides. In the kit, the grill and backings for the lights are molded as one piece, with a clear lens piece to go over it.

The builder can simply cut off the light backings from the grill and add the new light clusters that you design.

Hopefully I can get thru my backlog in short order, then get going on these, along with the 1/24 versions of the bumpers (someone offered to loan me theirs so I can verify the mounting locations.

They look nice. Any progress or plans to do the fleet headlight light clusters?

I hoping to try. Just trying to the staring point is a challenge. A 3D scanner would be nice.
