I had a fun idea as I was posting a photo of general progress on my current kit.

Show your workspace as it currently stands RIGHT NOW. No tidying up, no moving things around to compose a nice shot
Let's see the range from 'OCD lined up paint jars and cleanliness' to 'how can you work in that mess?!'

Here's me; not the messiest it's been but I do tend to leave tools and brushes to accumulate until they get in the way and I tidy them all away in one go.

I subscribe to the organized chaos theory:

Nice!, but I'll bet you know exactly where any given thing is right?

(hey, is that smiley saluting or putting a gun to his head? I never noticed that before. I'm meaning it as a salute !)

Just curious, but for what do you use the shaving brush?

Well...at least 90% of the time. I guess the gun to the head smiley would be for the other 10%.

Initially, I thought it might be the thing to create cast texture, but the bristles are too soft. Now, it's relegated to the occasional role of blending pastels and pigments in large areas and dusting things off.

------------------------------------

In a somewhat weak defense, I will say that I generally have 3 or 4 kits being worked on simultaneously, all in different stages of completeness. I just find it easier to keep everything I need for all of them at hand.

My worst is usually during figure painting sessions — easily, 20-30 paint bottles come off the rack to wreak havoc on my workbench. If I was to clean up, I’d totally lose my place.

Unfortunately, today the OCD kicked-in — just got done cleaning my workbench for a build photo-op. In doing so, the model in question got knocked onto the floor ... @#$%^&*!!!

I should have followed your advice ... “No tidying up!”

Not the most current state of affairs, but pretty much.

Sheet of tempered glass to build/spray onto, to the rt is about 497 bottles of Tamiya paint, above there in the back another 497 of vallejo, off to the left are a mess of take out flat containers w tools.
I'll get a better distance shot of the bench.

Bench? Who can afford a bench? Mine's an old computer desk someone down the street threw out.

Here's mine.

There's a bench there somewhere... I'm down to mostly just the front left corner.

Now we're talking. I can just imagine some of the OCD folk going catatonic over some of these!

Impressive! At the very least!

Now, here is my little mess!

Just a small corner in the cellar, but my refuge!

Here is my work bench; the wife just calls it the beast. The mess builds up on the bench till I finish a project then I clean up everything to start over again.

Brian, that is some serious workplace you have there.
Oliver, I kinda like that idea of having a pull-out -- a place where I can conveniently keep the instructions / documents than cluttered all over.
