I am attempting for the first time to use homemade lead foil rifle slings on some 1/35 figures. I am having an awful time keeping the slings on the rifles. I am using plastic cement (Testors), and have even tried cutting little notches in the rifles to slip the foil into, but every time I try to pick up the piece, the sling comes off.
Are there any tips and/or tricks to getting this to work?
TIA
Mike

My trick for this is to make an actual 'swivel' out of the very fine copper wire inside a speaker cone.
Get an old dead speaker, inside the paper cone at the center is a very fine coil of copper wire.
This, placed inside the folded foil or paper sling can be tied the to front end of a rifle and superglued in place.
For the back end, do the same thing, but drill a tiny (Bit #76-80) hole in the stock, make your sling with the wire inside the fold. Twist the ends together and place inside the hole. Superglue in place.
Lots of fiddly work, but the results look great!

It's the glue that's causing problems. Testors won't work in this application. Even drug store super glue will be ok here. Just sharpen a toothpick, put a drop on a scrap piece of paper and dip the toothpick in and touch the strap and put the strap in place and hold for a few seconds.
A third hand tool with some gentle (not spiked) clamps helps hold the two ends together.

Two types of glue work for dissimillar items, CA/superglue and epoxy. Head to your LHS and get some Zap+a+gap and some Zip Kicker Accelerator.
To attach PE/lead foil to plastic put a dab of CA to one or the other then add a tiny drop of accelerator (don't use the spray top, but a micro-crush, toothpick or other gizmo to put a drop od accellerator on the CA.
