Probably a silly questioned asked quite alot so here goes airfix kits are now mainly boxed in the new red boxes and ive read somewhere that this is just a marketing scheme and update to the actual box art etc. But are the kits still the same or have they been retooled to a new standard?

Depends on the kit, some are old tool, some retool and others complete new tool and in my opinion some of the best out there. Also note that it would appear that Airfix are looking through their catalogue and bringing out new tools to replace their old kits slowly.

Your best bet is to ask about a kit in question.
