I'm getting back into photography, but the light bulbs have all changed in the USA! Anyone know of a good review on how to effectively use the new halogen bulbs? My color balance seems off. Too blue or orange. Changed color balance but still not what I expected.

Any help is welcomed!

With color balance do you mean "white balance", that is designating what is white respectively a "18 percent grey" to the camera?

If yes: What camera are you using? Many have an "Automatic White Balance" setting that normaly works nicely. If in doubt you can take a test picture with a resonably white element (piece of paper, cheap "grey card") and check the data (or even use that for custom WB if the cam allows(1))

The modern halogon/led/energy saver bulbs are a M E S S! Temperature is all over the place with some holes in the spectrum for certain types. Bonus point if you mix types.

(1) At least als DSLx (x=R/M/T) and some bridges allow that.
