Hello, please break down modulation color, its uses and what results you want from them.

Hi Philip,
A gtreat deal can be written to answer your questions. In short, I think there are two purposes:
1. To imitate the play of light across a surface, and
2. To imitate that paint is made up of many pigments that can weather differently, even from the same application.
The purpose is to keep a paint finish from looking too uniform.
Here is a good article by Adam Wilder, who now has his own line of weathering and modulating paints ( as seen here Wilder Product Reviews ):
