Having problems with tracks again so please bear with me.

Nearing completion of my Universal Carrier and surprise surprise, when trying to get the one piece track to join up theyre about 10mm too short. Ive pulled them, warmed em, stretched em, you name it but the bu**ers still wont meet up well enough to hold.

This is the second time Ive come acroos this in a three model career so why dont manufacturers give us some extra track length instead of too little? I know profit margings are tight but come on!!

In light of this Im begrudgingly considering buying some individual track links but dont know if they are available in 1/35 Universal carrier option. If anyone knows of a source for these Id be very grateful for some info.

Many thanks

David

Did you check again the instructions to see if the suspensions are put on in the proper way? No direct experience with bren carrier, but such a gap quite likely is due to what I said...

Hip,
I biult the "Forced Recon" kit about 8 months ago and did not have a problem with the tracks. I did check on indy link sets and couldn't find any. I thought Fruil made some?

On that photo there, since there is a fender over the top run,a gap could be hidden there.

there are some indi links for it as a lot of people take this option as theres something wrong with the pitch of the trcks which was carried over to the re-tool as well

I have built many universal kits in my time building models and never had any problem with the tracks...I too would be checking the running gear and seeing if you've made a mistake there somewhere.
The problem with the kit's tracks is....they're too big....apparently there should be about twice as many track on each side if they were to scale....having said this...I know somebody out there made a set of individual track links and a new sprocket wheel with the smaller teeth as well....but I can't for the life of me think of who it was....if i think of it I will post again.

Modelkasten made or makes a set for the Universal carrier but if you want to go crazy you buy this set ...non working ...tiny little tracks ..arrggghh!! but they really do look much better than the kit tracks...

I'm working on a carrier right now as a matter of fact. The hardest thing about the tracks is keeping them together while putting them on the kit. I streched them out a bit during my painting process and used plenty of super glue on the connection. Make sure you leave off the side fenders before you try to put them on.
