How to make weapon's belt?

Dear folk, working with my first figure, have no idea how to make belt, could anyone kindly suggest which specific material is best for making weapon's belt? Thank you!

Lead-foil is very pliable, it can be rolled to various thicknesses and it forms well to give a very realistic look. I've also used plain old printer paper in a pinch. HTH.

I use Tamiya tape doubled up- then cut to the correct size and threaded through etched buckles from Aber.

That is what I like to use. I cut it to the desired length and width and glue it in place. I get it wet and shape it the way I want it and then paint it the desired color. I have always been happy with the results.
