I haven't laid a decal in years. Back then I was happy to soak em in warm water, slide them into place, blot them with a washcloth and call it done.
But now I expect more of my presentation but have too many choices.
Mark Setter?
Mark Softer?
I don't have either of those. Do I need both?
For the first time I have Future.
But I also have Testors Gloss Coat.
Is one better than the other?
Thank you for reading,
Gary

I use MicroSol decal softener. I recommend brushing Future. It is not nearly as aggressive as lacquer and dries quickly. Plus it is much cheaper. Be careful, with the model, while the decal solvent is setting. I recommend waiting two hours.

Matt,
Thank you for your reply. I'll try to dig some up at my local hobby store this weekend.

I must say almost all of the Mr.Hobby products are top notch.
I have both Mr. Mark Setter and Mr. Mark Softener.
Mr. Mark Setter works very well overall, especially on straight surfaces of the model. It gives a good ammount of time to work with the decal and helps with that "painted" on look. However I noticed that I like to add Mr. Mark Softener right after I placed it on the model to get that extra smooth finish.
Also Mr. Softener lets you move the decal around curvy surfaces much easier. Basically it softens the decals even more, and gives you plenty of time to smooth it out with a dry brush. Its almost like a retarder for decals haha
Amazing products!
