hi guys

is it possible to home made decals without using decal paper. instead using something like whiteglue and gloss clear sprays or anything else?

The first time I ever made my own 'transfers' as they were known back in the 70s we used 'lick'n'stick' address labels. The design was painted (no inkjet or laser printers) onto the glue side and then coated with polyurethane varnish. They worked exactly the same as any other decal. I suppose nowadays you could print onto the same kind of paper - if you can still find it!

There are some decal sheets available for printing or painting, or even typing on.
Microscale is the best product I have used. they sell sheets of clear , white and several solid colors.

thanks for advice. i went to a local art store today they only have clear laser jet decal sheets... too bad no white based ink jet types...

You can spray the laser print decal film with dullcoat laquer and then print on it with your inkjet printer.

One more thing, if you decide to try this, when you click Print, go in to the printer Preferences, pull down the list of paper types, and choose "transparency" .

Or you do it old school and break out the paint brushes and paint and do it by hand .
