Has anyone seen either of Tamiya's Modern US Supplies sets here? I'm looking for a few rucksacks to put on some armor I'm building, but haven't found anything but the Academy set (which has ONE backpack... )

Wohoo, my first post in thi forum..! :-)

Haven't seen any in Lil's lately (I got three boxes, I knew these stuff were gonna sell like isaw)....don't worry, Li'ls should be restocking soon.

Not sure if Hobbies & Comics still has it...saw one box last month.

If you really like to get some Alice Packs, try the STC shops. They sell some resin-cast accessories made by WES Minatures (which I have a feeling it's just being made here). Compared to Tamiya's products, they're about the size of the small Alice Packs and kinda puffed up (like their owner crammed everthing but the kitchen sink into it). Costs a tad over P100.

IMHO, they look pretty okay lashed onto the bustle racks of an M1.

AFAIK this is out-of-production. Really. It not only includes rucksacks, but also ammo crates for 105mm and 120mm rounds, 120mm and 105mm rounds, spare tracks for the M60 and M1A1, spare roadwheels for said tanks, Stinger SAMs, rifles, acetylene tank, oxygen tank, Hoffman device, and MRE cartons (JMN sells the MRE cartons for P5 each sheet).

Your best bet is the Academy set or the resin ones available at STC.

Black_Thor: Do post at the Fropiles thread. :-) Yeah, after this semester, let's play SB over the modem. :-)

I remember that edition...the Alice Packs were really small there...IMHO, several of the equipment there was too specialized that would be more useful for dioramas than actual tank/AFV accesories. It did help dress up my old Tamiya M60A3 and M1 tanks, though.

Regarding my above post, I was pertaining to another set of Modern US Military Equipment Set that was recently released; its focuses more on dressing up the vehicles. Really a mighty good package, if I may say...even the MRE's are of the current version.

Here's a good review of the set:

Hope this helps.

Lils ParkSquare was restocking when I was there - no supplies in sight! They DO have the Tamiya M1A2, and a Tamiya Panzer III with SS troopers or something that ride on the back....

That re-released Panzer III L is a mistake from tamiya. The tank itself is very good along with the metal barrel..........turned you on? maybe but for a price tag of P 1,300 better change your mind. Also the figures are like rotten garbage, from the early-days-of-the-company quality I tell you! about the same quality as of those figures from the Tammy 88 mm Flak (the flak itself is actually very nice). and there are no indy tracks! For that price there should have been.
As many others have said, "Tamiya sells OLD kits at today's prices."

WES miniatures is a local brand. The owner is actually the owner of STC himself. Also, of course they look good............that's because most (or all) of their stuff are Verlinden/Warriors/etc. copies. .
Before you buy those, hear me: THEIR RESIN IS VERY, VERY BRITTLE. I even ended up making streched sprue barrels for the AK's of the Taliban warriors (which in my opinion is highly detailed. The guys in IPMS BAC have seen one of them).

P.S. I'M BACK FROM THE ABYSS I WOULD LIKE TO CALL AS THE OFFLINE VOID.
hehehehe, nice to be back again #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-)

Stay away from the Tamiya M1A2. It doesn't offer much compared to the Dragon, Trumpeter, and Italeri kits (Dragon being the best). I've read the reviews of the Tamiya A2 and it seems that they just gave the turret a CITV and CIWS, but still NO anti-skid surface and the hull is still their old Abrams hull. And you pay two to nearly three times as much as the Dragon kit which is more accurate to boot.

Fritz: Welcome back. Just stay away from the Pretty Girl Talk thread hehehehe unless you have a parent or legal guardian (armed with the appropriate affidavit) along with you while you read that thread. WE NEED PROOF! #:-)
