Ola People

Yesterday I bought the Movie Stalingrad on DVD.

I watched it and besides the bit Goofy English I was stunned. A superb movie. Great Acting, good storyline and nice vehicles. In my opinion a really good movie. What is your opinion??
In my eyes this comes very close to what must have happened there.

I've only seen it once, on the tube, but I liked it. I think I've read it wasn't as historically accurate as it could have been but I thought the story was good, as was the acting and specail effects.

I really like the film. It was one of the first DVDs that I purchased.

It captures the utter hopelessness of the German soldier in brutal conditions.

its a great movie after the battle ran an article on it the uniforms ect were all orginals they found them in a warehouse in the czech republic were most of it was shot in an old factory complex, they also flimed the winter scenes in Northen Finland. The General was an actual WW2 vet I'm not sure if he was at Stalingard they used some war vets with missing limbs for the hospital shots. It was made to break the taboo of the battle as it was still a sore point with the Germans. I think that this film and Das Boot have set the rules which the likes of spielburg and other film makers now try to make them as authenic as possiable if you can find the article on the making of the movie is well worth a read

I enjoyed this movie very much, the english was terrible, so I watched it in German language version with english subtitles. My wife watched it with me, she enjoyed it also. A good movie to watch when you want to feel hopeless and depressed. #:-)

A good movie that demonstrates the futility of war. Also that hitler was no smarter than Napoleon and underestimated the Russian winter.

Brutal fighting, horrible conditions very tragic.
