Hi All,

I was just thinking back to my early days of building models, as a kid. I'm talking about the mid to late 60s and very early 1970s. Back then, I made do with scissors to cut parts off the sprue, emory boards I got from my mom for sanding, the old Testor's orange/white tube glue, and the small square bottle of Testor's paints, the glossy enamel type. These items were all I recall as being around, back then.

I wanted to ask those who may know, when the first types of flat (matte) finish hobby paints came out. I'm sure they had to be out there back when I started, but I don't recall being aware of anything other than those Testor's paints, back then. I'm in sort of a retrospective mood, as I just received a Paasche Model H airbrush, that I plan to use for base and clear coats (in addition to my Iwata brush for details), and I recall that this brush was the one I owned (but barely used) when I was little. Also wondering when the first photo etch came out. So much has changed over the decades since I first built models...
