I moved to a regional area about 18months ago and my supplies of Tamiya glue is low, with no local replacement. The local Hobby and Technology store stocks Plastruct. What are peoples experience with it? Is it a suitable replacement for Tamiya Cement or Extra Thin Cement (Orange & Green Lid Bottles) or should I would I be better off mail ordering for a restock?

Lacquer thinner or MEK are excellent substitutes for Tamiya extra thin.

I second that, since I've used both at different times. In my opinion, MEK seems to be a little faster acting. I've also used acetone in a pinch.
Plastruct is... OK for some jobs, but it seems to leave a residue, or something, that other liquid cements don't. For example, it's nearly impossible to use in a Touch-N-Flo, where Ambroid & Tenax work perfectly.

From what I can tell MEK isn't available locally, but I always have lacquer thinner on hand. Will give it a trial/experiment on some old parts see how it goes.
